Dekoloniale Berlin Residency 2024

Dekoloniale Memory Culture in the City announced the fourth open call for the Dekoloniale Berlin Residency 2024 in collaboration with Contemporary And (C&). All  artists, architects, designers, directors, photographers, fashion designers or urban practitioners are invited to apply for a residency at Dekoloniale Memory Culture in the City of Berlin.

The Sound Art Residency

The Sound Art Residency is open exclusively to artists who come from one of the four continents represented in the collections of the musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac: Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas. There is no age limit to apply. The jury will give precedence to pieces conceived in connection with the museum’s collections, interests and themes. The winning project will be chosen in the spring of 2024 by an international jury that will bring together various personalities from the world of sound and audiovisual creation. The museum will pay the winning artist an endowment of €8,000 and will also finance the production of the sound work, which will be presented to the public and may become part of the museum’s collections.

The STARTS Prize Africa

 S+T+ARTS = innovation at the nexus of Science, Technology, and the ARTS: STARTS is an initiative of the European Commission to foster alliances of science, technology, and artistic practice. The focus is on people and projects that contribute to mastering the social, ecological, and economic challenges. The STARTS Prize Africa will highlight and award regional best practices in the field through the launch of the African edition of the well-known STARTS Prize. The STARTS Prize has been a major contributor to building the foundations of a community interlinking artists, companies, scientists, researchers, and businesses. This movement will now be enhanced with the first edition of the STARTS Prize Africa.

1646 Experimental Art Space

1646 is looking for an international artist or researcher to do a residency in The Hague. The call proposed by 1646 and ReCNTR is open to both artists and researchers interested in investigating relevant social and political issues through multimodal and artistic methods. The objective of the residency is to support the work of individuals engaged in the practice of “thinking through making”, i.e. artistic or multimodal practices not as separate from, or in dialogue with knowledge production, but as practices and methodologies of knowledge production in and of themselves.

Bildingship Open Call

„bildingship“ is a working fellowship for young artists up to 31 years of age, to use bilding as space for their own artistic work as well as actively engaging in the regular workshop programme for the duration of half a year (prolongation to one year is possible), including part-time employment (500€ per month for approx. 10 hours per week). The aim is to convey the concept and working methods of bilding to the artists, while at the same time, imparting artistic processes directly to the children and young people based on the artists’ on-site work, to establish mutual ties and to promote and expand international discourse in the field of art and cultural mediation with young people, based on the practical experiences gained at bilding.

Durban FilmMart 

Project submissions for the 13th edition of JUMPSTART, presented by the Durban FilmMart Institute are now open. Jumpstart is an incubator programme designed to introduce emerging filmmakers to writing and packaging. Focussing on project packaging for the international market, filmmakers are introduced to key techniques and tools for scriptwriting and storytelling processes. Projects will be guided by script consultants from South Africa and France. The programme will include the main workshop from 19 to 22 July 2024, during the 15th annual Durban FilmMart, with online follow-up sessions in November 2024 and February 2025.

Bio Art and Design Award 2024

All designers and artists interested in bio art & design are invited to propose projects for collaborative work across disciplines. The Bio Art & Design (BAD) Award, existing since 2010, is a yearly 25,000 euro award. With the budget, a maximum of three successful applicants are allowed to fully realise a new work of art or design that pushes the boundaries of scientific research and creative expression. The BAD Award highlights and explores exciting new intersections among design, artistic practice and the (life)sciences.

NXTHVN Fellowship 

Each year, NXTHVN welcomes up to seven artists and two curators to participate in its paid 10-month intensive fellowship program. Fellows receive studio or office space, a stipend, and subsidised housing. The mentorship-driven curriculum includes professional development sessions led by visiting artists, curators, scholars, and practitioners. Curatorial fellows will each receive a $45,000 stipend, and studio fellows will each receive a $35,000 stipend.
