Zahra Doola is a Johannesburg based visual artist with a BA Fine Arts degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. Her artistic practice explores Muslim female identity as well as power structures within the South African Indian community. Her research interests include the representation of brown bodies and dismantling the stereotypes which surround them. Previously working across digital illustration, publication and video art. She takes her experience within the Indian Muslim community as a framework to write pieces that engage with the ideas of culture politics, social justice and disrupting patriarchal structures.
