Machine_ is looking for copywriters. Late Winter Writers Residency Online 2023

A small cohort program, the Late Winter Writers Residency Online offers you the ability to learn from teachers and fellow students, hear exclusive sessions, ask questions, and advance your work.

This two week online residency provides broad thematic teaching from faculty members, Dani Spinosa and Kate Siklosi, Q&A sessions and workshopping. Instructors will discuss ideas, experiences, and obstacles that you may be encountering with your writing of both poetry and fiction. One-on-one mentorship will allow you to receive direct mentorship on craft and professional development.

Cuturi Gallery – c/residency

Cuturi Gallery is proud to introduce c/residency, an artist-focused programme which supports two types of artist residencies: local and international. The programme is dedicated to fostering and sustaining artistic talent, offering artists-in-residence a supportive atmosphere to concentrate on their creative endeavours and get fresh perspectives on their craft.

Residency artists will be able to interact with fellow artists-in-residence, as well as artists and creatives in the local community from various backgrounds and practices.

C/residency allows national and international artists to work in the studios housed within the gallery’s grounds as part of its program offerings. A solo exhibition at the gallery, featuring the works produced throughout the residency, will serve as the program’s capstone.

Artists interested in residency openings are encouraged to submit their expression of interest, alongside their portfolio of sample works.

OPEN CALLS

#CreateCOP27

#CreateCOP27 invites artists of all racial, ethnic, gender, and religious backgrounds, between the ages of 14 and 30, to submit work that sparks discussions about the urgent need for climate action and spreads awareness of the significant decisions being made at COP27, the yearly climate summit hosted by the United Nations.

Applicants can apply with any medium, including – but not limited to – photography projects, docu-style and experimental film, performance art, spoken word, musical compositions, fashion design, new media, and social media projects.

Eight finalists will be awarded cash prizes of $10k, $5k, or $2k, and an additional 20 creatives will receive honorable mentions by a globally recognised jury of industry experts.

Arte Laguna Prize

The Arte Laguna Prize is an international competition for visual arts and design that features international jurors. It offers artists the chance to join a broad network of partnerships, gain free exposure, sell their creations online, take home a cash prize of €10,000, and exhibit their work in Venice, Italy at the Arsenale Nord.

The Prize is open to the following artistic disciplines: painting, sculpture and installation, photographic art, video art and short films, performance, digital art, digital graphics and cartoon, environmental and land art, urban art and street art, art design.

TAF Paper Open Call

Turbine Art Fair presents Paper, a series of accessible contemporary work on paper by independent artists from Southern Africa. TAF invites artists who are currently not represented by a Southern African gallery to submit works on paper for consideration. Accepted work will be shown in a dedicated OVR on the TAF website and at a pop-up exhibition.

Works can be submitted in the either or all of the categories; drawing, photography, watercolour, ink, print, painting, or collage. Provided all works are paper based. Works submitted should not be priced above R7000 incl. a 30% commission for TAF. TAF will also add on VAT to each sale.

TAF Paper 2022 will take place in February 2023.

 Call for solo artists for Copenhagen Photo Festival 2023

The festival’s “Rewilding” concept invites creatives, talents, and photographers to “think wildly” and liberate their photography. The call’s winner will have a solo show in June at the Copenhagen Photo Festival 2023.

The open call is for artists and photographers who want to break new ground and challenge the idea of what photography is and can be, now and in the future.

In addition to focusing on sustainable development, solo shows at the Copenhagen Photo Festival seek to push the frontiers of photographic exhibition while showcasing fresh viewpoints and up-and-coming photographers. This is especially important given the festival’s location.

Joburg Film Festival Youth & Audience Development Programme

The Youth & Audience Development Programme is an outreach programme focused on assisting the youth in disadvantaged and underdeveloped communities who are interested in the film industry. The programme conducts and hosts a series of skills development and empowerment workshops and masterclasses for film enthusiasts across two days with the aim of providing access to the filmmaking process and its different disciplines. The two-day workshop culminates in a free film screening open to the broader community. The 2022 programme will also incorporate an additional element in the form of acting workshops for aspirant young actors and actresses who also wish to sharpen their skills and talent. The workshops will take place between October 2022 and January 2023 across the five regions of Gauteng.

Furthermore, budding filmmakers have the opportunity to submit a 5-minute video themed, “what inspires you about your township” to stand in line to win one of a number of fantastic prizes including a scholarship to study a film-related course.

Not-for-profit, film & photo production company un/produced, would like to announce the launch of their new international funding platform; un/fund.

Based out of the Netherlands, the funding is purposed to discover, promote and reward un/der-represented visuals artists.

By sponsoring and creating the platform, un/produced, wants to help inspire and finance the recovery of all un/supported visual creatives affected from the current climate.

The competition will feature numerous awards of up to €10,000 per project (including production support, financial management and exhibition).
