FiveHead Studio – new generation content creation

In 2016 during her first year at LISOF, Reneilwe Masekoameng had a vision for a space that would allow creative collaboration between herself and her friends, as well as allow each person to showcase their individual talent. Getting caught up in all of life’s flows, the idea fell to the wayside. However, a seed had already been planted. Fast forward to 2018 and Reneilwe found herself craving the growth of her idea. While working on an editorial assignment with Tshepang Sekokope, the two realized the potential of a partnership and co-founded FiveHead Studio earlier this year.

Providing their own styling, makeup and photography services, the duo visualize themselves working with other creatives to build a connection between creative disciplines and to expand the possibilities of fashion-related outputs.

“Our long term vision includes an online publication and FiveHead Studio headquarters. Above and beyond becoming a platform for creative outlet, we would also like to grow a community that is continually growing. We want to show the value of [the] creative industry while adding value to the creative community and individuals trying to come into this community. While our main goal now is launching our online magazine,” Reneilwe explains.

FiveHead Studio has worked on an editorial for Property of Society‘s winter range. Taking the utilitarian foundation of the garments and contrasting that with blinding white backgrounds, they achieved a beautifying stillness in the images.

Their short fashion film ‘Transcendence’ is a story based on celestial thematic references, with the main character in the film discovering his extraterrestrial lineage, and weds his mate. The film might be released on the website they are currently working on, so check out their Instagram for more details.

Reflecting on how the duo would like to position themselves in the content creation space in South Africa, Reneilwe expresses that, “We would like FiveHead Studio to be known as the place where it all comes together. Our goal is to create the best content possible, and we believe that the end product would be most successful as a collaborative effort.”

At the moment they are working on their website. They have also recently teamed up with LISOF design graduate Lydia de Kock for a new project, so watch this space!
